Treating Hyperpigmentation with ZO Skin

Darker spots or patches that appear across your skin that you just can’t seem to explain – sound familiar? You may be suffering from Hyperpigmentation – one of the top concerns our clients have here at Face Clinic London. You may have resigned to just ‘live with it’ – but you don’t have to anymore. Dr. Joanna Christou explained what causes hyperpigmentation, and what we can do to treat it:

“Hyperpigmentation on the skin is characterized by dark patches in areas where over-production of the pigment called melanin by the melanocytes cells has occurred. This can be caused by sun damage, inflammation from acne or facial hair removal. Pigmented areas can be visibly reduced with a prescribed skin regime with ZO Medical. These treatments include skin brightening and blending which are targeted to the melanocytes to reduce the production of melanin. The intensity of pigmentation varies from individual to individual and treatments are prescribed, as a bespoke skin protocol for your own skin needs. ”

So there’s the medical explanation, but what you’re really thinking is, ‘Does it actually work?”. Short answer – yes! To give a more detailed look into treating hyperpigmentation with ZO Medical, we asked one of our clients about her experiences on the regime. Sara from London had been suffering from hyperpigmentation and was struggling to deal with it on a daily basis – here’s what she has to say:

“I originally went to Face Clinic London, as I had developed some dark pigmentation on my upper lip forehead and cheeks, which meant I had to wear make up and concealer on a daily basis.  Dr Joanna and Sophia suggested the ZO medical regime, and prescribed me:  Oilacleanse, Cebatrol, Exfoliating polish, Daily power defense and Restorecalm as the basic regime, and Retamax, Melamin and Melamix to tackle the pigmentation.

I have to admit the first few weeks were slightly uncomfortable, and at times I wondered if I was doing the right thing, as I didn’t have bad skin, I just wanted to get rid of the dark patches. My skin felt dry and I had to keep applying the Restoracalm  (which I would recommend anyone using carries around!)

However, the positives completely outweigh the negatives. The dark patches seemed to go within the first 3 weeks. I also had a small scar which had a dark mark around it – which has gone! My skin is now one tone, with even colour, which is excellent.

The appearance of the pores on my cheeks and around my nose has improved, and my skin is soft, silky and feels tighter especially around my nose and cheeks.

I am very happy with the results so far and look forward to the next process. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone. Its not a quick fire next day results regime – it is a little slow and steady, but the results are wonderful and I’m very happy (and it takes a lot to make me happy!)”
