What to look for when choosing an aesthetics clinic

Dr Mark ListerClinic update

Choosing an aesthetics clinic can feel like a big decision, especially if you are considering treatment for the first time.

There is a lot of information out there, and with so many clinics, practitioners and treatments to choose from, it is not always obvious what you should actually be looking for.

At Face Clinic London, we have been treating patients in Soho since 2009. Over the years, treatments have changed, techniques have developed and trends have come and gone, but we think the fundamentals of good aesthetic care have stayed fairly consistent.

Here are a few things we believe are worth considering when choosing a clinic.

Look at who will actually be treating you

It is always worth taking the time to understand who your practitioner is, what their background is and what experience they have. Aesthetic treatment is very personal, and you should feel comfortable asking about qualifications, experience and the treatments a practitioner regularly carries out.

At Face Clinic London, our treatments are carried out by experienced medical practitioners, and we place a lot of importance on patients knowing exactly who they are seeing before they come into clinic.

A consultation should feel like a conversation

A good consultation should never feel rushed. It is a chance to talk about what you would like to achieve, but it is also an opportunity for your practitioner to understand your medical history, discuss what is realistic and decide whether treatment is right for you.

Sometimes the outcome of a good consultation may even be deciding not to treat, or recommending a different approach. We have always believed that the best results start with listening.

Look for a clinic that prioritises natural results

For many patients, the aim is not to look dramatically different. It might be about looking fresher, feeling more confident or simply making a small adjustment to something that has been bothering them.

A good practitioner should understand your face as a whole and work with your natural features rather than following a one size fits all approach.

Aftercare matters too

The relationship with your clinic should not end as soon as you leave the treatment room. Clear aftercare advice, knowing who to contact if you have a question and having access to appropriate follow up are all important parts of the treatment experience.

It is something we take seriously at Face Clinic London and one of the reasons we value building long term relationships with our patients.

Finally, trust how you feel

Qualifications and experience matter, but so does feeling comfortable. You should feel listened to, able to ask questions and confident that there is no pressure to go ahead with a treatment.

Many of our patients have been visiting us for years, and for us, that trust is one of the most important parts of what we do. Face Clinic London has been based in Soho since 2009 and is a doctor led, CQC regulated and Save Face accredited clinic.

If you are considering treatment and would like to speak to our team, you can book a consultation or contact the clinic to find out more.
