Profhilo

Profhilo is a Hyaluronic acid based product which opens up a new category of injectable treatments – bio remodelling – setting it apart from dermal fillers.

This means it promotes two distinct effects in the treatment area; a bio regenerating action which stimulates the body’s own Hyaluronic acid production and elastin; and a tightening effect, counteracting skin laxity and remodelling the face.

Whereas conventional Dermal Filler products are aimed at restoring lost volume in specific areas, Profhilo is not designed to plump or add volume.

Instead, Profhilo is designed to repair the scaffolding under the skin in order to remodel the skins structure, treating skin laxity and restoring firmness over a larger area. Overall, clients can usually expect increased firmness, hydration and elasticity giving overall improved quality of skin, with effects lasting around 6 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can be treated with Profhilo?

Areas of the body suitable for treatment include the face, neck, and hands. Other body areas are best treated with Profhilo BODY.

Profhilo has been developed with an exclusive injection technique, customisable for each client. In the area chosen to be treated, up to 10 specific injection points can be used. Each point is known as a bioaesthetic point, and identifying these points for injection with Profhilo is known as the bioaesthetic point (BAP) technique. These ten points are in the most anatomically receptive areas, and when used together, allow the treatment to take maximal effect.

How does Hyaluronic acid work?

By boosting the skins supply of Hyaluronic acid, Hyaluronic acid products revitalise the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and giving a natural softer look. Hyaluronic acid products are a soft injectable gel consisting of stabilised, non-animal hyaluronic acid. The gel is tissue-friendly and closely resembles the hyaluronic acid that exists naturally in the body. It is long-lasting but not permanent.

How does Profhilo differ from other Dermal Filler products?

Profhilo has one of the highest concentrations of Hyaluronic acid on the market. Uniquely, it is stabilised using a thermal process, meaning it does not use BDDE or any other chemical agents. It’s production process results in a low inflammatory response when injected, and extensive spread-ability, allowing a small amount, strategically injected, to produce the desired result over a larger area.

What does Profhilo treatment involve?

Before Treatment

During the initial consultation at Face Clinic London, your Doctor will discuss your treatment expectations. After discussion of what you wish to achieve and assessment of your treatment needs, the doctor will advise if Profhilo is suitable for you.
After a treatment plan has been agreed, and only once you are happy to proceed, you will be asked to read, understand and sign a consent form before the treatment can begin.

During Treatment

Profhilo is injected into the skin in small amounts using a very fine needle. Profhilo improves the elasticity and texture of skin, restoring and maintaining the skins hydrobalance. Numbing cream can be used to make the procedure more comfortable.

The treatment is quick, typically taking about 30 minutes. Treatment with Profhilo does not affect facial expression and the benefits can normally be seen over the following days.

After Treatment

Profhilo products are biodegradable, which means they will be naturally broken down by the body. To ensure an optimal and long-lasting result, a top-up treatment is recommended 6 months after your initial Profhilo course of treatment.

Downtime following a treatment is minimal, and many clients are able to return straight to work. After Profhilo treatment some reactions might occur, these include; slight redness, swelling, itching, bruising, pain and tenderness. The reactions are generally mild to moderate and usually disappear shortly after injection. They typically resolve spontaneously within one or two days.

How long does a Profhilo treatment last?

One of the great advantages of Profhilo treatment is that the effects are long lasting but not permanent. Duration depends on many factors, such as the individual’s skin type, skin condition lifestyle and age. After a full course treatment (two treatments one month apart), follow-up sessions are normally recommended around every 4-6 months.

Is Profhilo suitable for everyone?

Profhilo should not be used in or near areas where there is or has been skin disease, inflammation or skin related problems. Profhilo has not been tested in pregnant or breast-feeding women. Individuals with medical conditions that lower the body’s immune response or individuals undergoing therapy that is immunosuppressive may be more prone to infection by a skin injection procedure.

During your pre-treatment consultation, you should thoroughly discuss your medical history with your Doctor at Face Clinic London.

Does Profhilo treatment need pain relief?

Generally, pain relief is not necessary when injecting into the skin with Profhilo. Some people may experience the treatment as a mild discomfort. A local anaesthetic cream can be applied to the area for a more comfortable treatment experience.

Are there any risks with Profhilo?

Profhilo has proved itself with an excellent safety record since its launch in 2015. Product related reactions are rare. There are some injection related reactions which may occur after any injection; they typically resolve spontaneously within a few days. These reactions include redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising or tenderness at the injection site.

Who will perform your Profhilo treatment?

Treatment with Profhilo and other injectable treatments, is still largely unregulated in the UK, allowing for wide variation in the qualifications and experience of practitioners, and the standard of treatment provided to patients.

At Face Clinic London your treatment will always be carried out by a Doctor. Both our Doctors are fully GMC registered, Save Face Accredited, and engage in regular training to remain able, skilled and professional in the treatments they provide. Both our Doctors also work within the NHS and undergo regular appraisal and revalidation.

It is important that you feel comfortable with your Doctor, not only in their ability and knowledge, but also on a personal level. We encourage all our patients to carefully research the practitioner offering them treatment, and only to make an informed decision on proceeding with treatment once they are comfortable with their impression, their experience and their qualifications.
